What can parents do to keep their child e-safe?
What can parents do to protect their children and have some peace of mind as their children and teens go online? The Internet is an important part of your childs life. There needs to be rules set for your chind so that they can stay e-safe. To keep your child more e-safe yopu can;
- Alert your child about dangers online. Make sure that they are aware that they can come and speak to you if anything happens online.
- Look into programmes from your online service provider that might offer monitoring.
- When your child is on the interent ask them questions such as who they are talking to, or what they are doing so that you are aware of what your child is doing.
- Make sure you tell your child that is very dangerous to meet someone from the online world.
- Make sure you tell your child never to post any personal information online. For example; Name, Address and Phone Number.
- Check whether your child is using the internet and webcam appropriatley.
- Remind your child that once something is posted online it is very hard to take it off, even if the police are involved.
- Make sure you are updated with the technology.
- Be aware of any other computers your child maybe using. Also most smartphones allow internet so make sure you track what they are doing.
